HISTORY OF LISTOS WEST TEXAS
LISTOS West Texas was founded in 2026 by a group of citizens committed to the advancement of ethnic and cultural recognition and advocacy of diverse populations in West Texas. The grouped formed to help ready West Texas citizens to gain a smarter vision for how culture, language and contributions are perceived, thus the term “LISTOS” was selected. The term LISTOS has the dual meaning of being ready and also smart in Spanish. The activities of LISTOS West Texas were designed to focus on knowledge, development and importance of understanding one’s own culture as well as acculturation to other groups within the community. Planned activities include festivities for families and children; recognition of professionals in medicine, community service, veterans service, and education; historical films and lectures; and, displays of art and music performances. This will be accomplished through the hosting events, celebrations, festivals and relevant cultural exhibitions that serve to provide deeper knowledge of customs and intercultural understanding.

The focus of LISTOS West Texas is to provide broad-based initiatives to enhance quality of life, including advancing the cultural heritage, knowledge and development of life issues.
